DEMAG D-BP balancers
DEMAG's Balancers present another step forward towards becoming a genuine overall hoisting and lifting equipment supplier .

The D-BP balancer is an electro-pneumatic balancer with an innovative concept. This balancer moves, controls and positions loads effortlessly, with high accuracy, safety and reliability.

Ergonomics
The D-balancer allows the operator to adopt an ergonomic body position, regardless of the load's weight, which prevents muscle and joint pains. Removing this noticeable strain increases productivity and motivates operators.

Principle
The D-BP balancers include a pneumatically driven cable drum. A speed restrictor is standard in order to restrict unintended rapid hoisting movements. The cable comes out of the balancer in fixed locations and subsequently does not impede. The cover can accommodate various control elements.

Operational features
The D-BP balancer has various operational concepts:

Up / Down operation with pushbutton cabinet
This equals standard operation most, comparable to operating a chain hoist; a pushbutton switch attached to the balancer by means of a hose. Inside this pushbutton switch there are two pneumatic valves. Using the pushbutton switch, the balancer can be continuously adjusted. If the load is stopped at a certain height, then it can still manually be moved in a vertical direction over a distance of approx. 10 cm.

Up/Down operation integrated
From a functional point of view this operation can be compared to the pushbutton switch, bearing in mind that the operation is now integrated in the loading process. As a result, balancer operation and load control can be done single-handed. The other hand can subsequently be used for, for instance, handling a second workpiece.

Single/Double load control
If the balancer is constantly loaded with the same irreplaceable load, such as a tool, the balancer is able to make this load apparently "weightless". The load can be hoisted to any required height and stays there when released. This is the so-called single-load control.

The double-load control is meant for situations with two fixed loading points such as a grab and a product. In such cases, the balancer retains the grab, with and without a product, in an apparently weightless condition.

Electro-pneumatic control by manual force
This is the most advanced and flexible control within its category. The control is integrated in the loading process. A built-in sensor registers the vertical manual force applied during operation. Subsequently, the control electronics ensure that the balancer moves the load in the required direction and keeps it virtually weightless. The balancer holds the load at any height. If the load has to be positioned in a horizontal direction, this control function can temporarily be "held" by a pushbutton, as a result of which the balancer keeps the load at the same height and does not respond to manual movements.

Safety
The balancer has a speed restriction by default, which stops the cable drum and as such the cable movement should it be catapulted upwards at speed, for instance, due to losing the load during the loading process.

In case of compressed air pressure failure, the balancer will lower the load very slowly and in a controlled manner.

Specifications
At the moment there are two types available for 0-55 kg i.e. 0-110 kg at a 6 bar operating pressure. Hoisting height and hoisting speed are the same for both sizes.
