DEMAG double-girder overhead travelling cranes for increased lifting performance and larger spans.
These cranes have a good effective size, because the loading hook can virtually always be hoisted up in between the two crane girders. Lifting capacity of 50 tons or more and a span of up to approx. 35 metres is possible. Of course, heavier workloads and spans are also possible and are designed to specification.
The cranes can be operated from the work floor by means of a pushbutton pendant running independently of the trolley movement along the crane girder. At a travel speed of 63 m/min, it is not allowed use the pushbutton pendant to operate the crane. These cranes can be supplied with a radiographic remote control or a crane cabin.
The crane's power supply uses a looped flat cable or a protected conductor rail.
Lifting units of the electric steel wire hoist DH or DR are compact, robust modern lifting units, requiring little maintenance and are subdivided into several FEM classes, implying that depending on operational intensity the right technical and cost-effective choice can be made. The lifting unit of the DW type is a modular loading winch for higher lifting capacities.
The cranes' steel construction is in accordance with DIN 15018, lifting class 2, load group 3 (different load groups are available on request). Main girders are available as welded box girders.
On each side of the crane there is a low-maintenance crane travel drive, which directly drives a crane wheel without gear ring/ gear wheel. In individual cases it may be advisable to drive each crane wheel in this manner. The DEMAG motor, with special starting and braking properties, guarantees a quiet start and braking of the crane, that restricts load swings to a minimum. For cranes with higher lifting capacities and/or higher crane travelling speeds, it may be advisable to fit the crane's travel motors with a DEMAG frequency control.
