New double girder overhead crane went in the air last week at SIF Roermond.
Last week, Elmec's service specialists were able to deliver another great project at one of our loyal customers SIF Group.
To pick up heavy tubular steel sections that are used for the construction of large offshore wind turbine foundations at the SIF Maasvlakte site, Elmec was called in to build an overhead crane. Our engineering department worked this out in accordance with SIF's requirements and delivered it within an unusually short time frame. The double girder overhead crane plays an essential role at SIF Roermond to transport tubular steel profiles in the production hall. The weight of the steel profiles can be as much as 64 tons! The overhead crane therefore has a load capacity of 80 tons. Robustness and longevity form the basis for the design.
Because the overhead crane must be suitable for indoor and outdoor use under varied weather conditions, it is essential to provide premium product quality. Elmec has been known for this for many years. The steel structures are treated with a durable preservative.
The two girders of considerable size and the double rail cat with a total weight of about 69 tons went up in the air last week with a mobile crane at SIF..
Watch a video impression of the complete project below;
Normally, a special project such as this is completed within one to one and a half years. Since it was a rush job, our specialists pulled out all the stops to get it done in just under five months. Because the delivery of certain components was somewhat delayed, the time to prepare the crane for delivery was shortened from 4 weeks to 1.5 weeks. Our specialists were not deterred by this and all went the extra mile to make it happen. Both our engineers and service technicians have been busy the past few months with production, customization, testing, further customization on site, more testing and delivery.
The crane was successfully delivered last week.
