Leo, already 15 years at Elmec!

Leo has is celebrating his 15 year anniversary at Elmec. And that is certainly not something to pass unnoticed.

Already 15 years at Elmec! That's quite a while. How did you end up at Elmec? “I ended up at Elmec after I found out from one of the Elmec employees that there was a job opening. Several new colleagues here had the same haircut, so I thought; Yes, that's definitely something", Leo grins. But without kidding around; "Everything looked neat and well organized. The friendly atmosphere inside and the appearance of Elmec really appealed to me.”

What activities do you perform on a daily basis? “I am involved in testing, certifying and inspecting at customers for; hoisting and lifting tools, hydraulic auxiliary tools, climbing equipment, fall protection and NEN3140 approvals."

What do you like most about your work at Elmec? “Most of all, I enjoy being on the road. I spend an average of 90% of my time on the road visiting customers for inspections and tests. Sometimes we also inspect inside our Elmec location, but for the most part these inspections still take place at the customer's location.”

What do you find most challenging about your job? “Getting up early!” Leo jokes with a big smile from ear to ear. And now the serious answer; “The variety of clients and activities are very challenging. You come across something new every time.”

What was your most memorable moment at Elmec?“My business trip to South Africa. In 2017 I travelled to South Africa for 2 weeks to elmec zuid afrika tripa electricity company for the inspection of hoisting and lifting equipment and NEN-3140 inspections. The test bench was transported there by plane. I took a suitcase with the necessary test equipment with me during my flight to South Africa. There was a lot of arranging and preparation beforehand, work permits and medical examinations in the hospital that took half a day. Of all days I had 1 free Sunday that I used to make a helicopter flight at Table Mountain. That was a very memorable experience.”

How do you find the fellowship among other colleagues within Elmec? “10% of my colleagues are still ok,” Leo jokes again. That Leo is one heck of a joker. “No, the atmosphere within Elmec is really great. We laugh a lot together, have a lot of fun but are still serious about our work”

Do you think that Elmec pays a lot of attention to special occasions for the team such as team trips? “Yes I do. Elmec is known for organising quite a lot for the team. To name just a few; In September we always have the closing of the season, Christmas dinner in December, New Year's drink in January and of course the annual Elmec trip every 3 years! Every year during winter I always organize a barbecue with a number of colleagues that takes place at my home. That is always very pleasant.”

Is there anything else you would like to add that really sets Elmec apart from other companies? Well, at Elmec a lot of attention is paid to growth of knowledge. For example, there is plenty of room for all colleagues to expand their knowledge through schooling. Hence our slogan; “Reliable through knowledge.”
