Exploring technology at the Crafters Festival: a day full of inspiration for VMBO students.

As a proud sponsor of VVV Venlo, ELMEC feels right at home in the Covebo Stadium – De Koel. This past Wednesday, we attended the second edition of Crafters '24. This event introduces VMBO students to the fascinating world of technology and engineering in an interactive and inspiring way. The initiative comes from Sterk Techniek Onderwijs (Strong Technical Education).
Our contribution to the event sparked a lot of enthusiasm. ELMEC’s wire loop game and traction strength setup were true crowd-pullers. The traction meter challenged students to test their physical strength, with some trying again and again to beat their own records. One standout participant, just 13 years old, pulled an impressive 230 kilos — an incredible feat!

The wire loop game turned out to be the most popular. In this challenge, students had to operate a load with an electric chain hoist using a remote control as precisely as possible. The goal? To guide a ring along a pipe without touching it. If they did, a buzzer and flashing light would go off — causing lots of laughter and extra motivation to improve. It was amazing to see how focused and driven the students were. Our colleagues Jeroen, Natacha, and Juul enthusiastically explained the world of lifting and drive technology to them.
With over 600 excited participants, the Crafters event was a great success. A day full of fun, challenges, and hands-on experience with technology — exactly what ELMEC stands for!
