Our colleague Jeroen regularly gives courses at companies.

Recently it was time for a refresher course; Safe Lifting at VDL Parree. Elmec offers a Safe Lifting course for companies that have installed cranes and hoists. VDL Parree is a great location to showcase our course. What does the safe lifting course actually entail? Our colleague Jeroen briefly explains what is covered and how he experiences giving the courses;

"Safe working is the main focus in the course. Based on practical examples from daily lifting situations and examples of material that didn’t tick the box during inspections, the safety part is emphasized. In both the theoretical and practical part. The following applies to every company:

• How is the workplace set up?
• Which hoisting and lifting equipment are used?
• What responsibility applies to the employer but also to an employee?
• What agreements are made on the work floor to work safely with lifting equipment?

During the course we discuss which different types of lifting tools are available ‘on the market’ for most lifting situations? What are inspection criteria and points for attention during an annual inspection? What are the possibilities in the field of customized lifting equipment? This is focused on the activities of our customers."

“The nice thing about giving a Safe Lifting course is to get in touch with people that work in the field, our customers who are very diverse in terms of companies. We tailor the course to the needs of the customer. The alternation between theory and practice makes it an interesting mix in which safe working with hoisting and lifting equipment is central. ELMEC has allowed me to do this for many years now and it gives me satisfaction when an enthusiastic group is standing in front of you with challenging questions about working with a hoist or crane.” Jeroen adds.

Pieter Melisse and Puck Schoenmakers from VDL Parree also give their thoughts on how they experienced the course that Jeroen regularly provides there; “From the first moment of contact with Elmec to the closing and “aftercare”, the communication was clear and fast. Prior to the course, Jeroen was open to sparring together about how we can best divide the groups with students and all related matters. The course “Safe Lifting with the overhead crane” was very instructive, especially for the employees who did not yet have much experience with the overhead crane. By bringing along physical/visual equipment and material and the combination of theory and practice, all participants now know how to handle the overhead crane. Even after completing the course, additional questions were answered quickly. To summarize, we have had a very good experience with Elmec and Jeroen.”
