The Venloop is finished and everyone, including our participating Elmec colleagues, have put their best feet forward.

A little piece of history; The Venloop board members were inspired by participating in the marathon in New York for two charities. That’s how the Venloop was founded in 2003 from the initiative to set up a sport-event in which a good atmosphere and sportsmanship would highlight. This year already the 16th edition of this fantastic event took place.

“Elmec is much more than just a sponsor of the Venloop.”

Elmec noticed the involvement of the board as a great initiative and therefore decided to support the Venloop by becoming one of the first sponsors. Rob Langen (the son of our one and only founder and also former director/owner of Elmec B.V.), participated in a small task group that brought life into the setup of the Saturday walking tours, prior to the Sunday running races. Which quickly grew into a great success.

Elmec team members have been participating in the Venloop for years from the very start, and a number of them were present again this year. As a star sponsor, Elmec provided the Venloop with wristbands for the participants. In that way, we proudly show that Elmec is also part of this beautiful, sporty and atmospheric running event.

"The organization was great again!" Mentioned one of our colleagues full of enthusiasm. "There are always nice resting points along the way where you can drink coffee, tea or water. You can also use fresh fruit from Kids Base. Tasty Tom tomatoes and strawberries from Brookberries."

A number of Elmec colleagues tell us how they feel about participating every year;

"What I always like is that there are many acquaintances standing on the side of the road to cheer us on. At the finish line they show their support with bunches of flowers. And afterwards we can have a snack and a drink together during a nice party in the city to close the event. ”

"You can see in the results graphs that I still finish quite high at the age of 58. In 2016 I delivered my best performance during the running marathon with a net time of 1:33:56. I absolutely love the large turnout every year during the Venloop."

“In the first years of my participation I walked 40 km and the past 2 years 30 km. Next year I will go one step further by running 42 km. What I like most is the gathering in the city to toast to our achievements together with other participants.”
